The guy is being asked to take slaw and compete with Top 10 teams. We are so conditioned to just bash the coach when we are pissed off on Sunday morning. Good post JM. I agree.

Regarding the Webb redshirt in 88, nobody knew cobb was going to miss games in the middle of the season due to suspension. And at 4 games in why blow webbs RS. Now Pickens is another story Hmm. My memory is that Webb tore his knee up then Cobb got booted maybe two games later? Am I reading this right that Cobb was suspended once before prior to being kicked off completely?

Cobb was kicked off in the middle of the 89 season the week of the Bama game. Tenn was undefeated and Sterling Hinton was still the starting QB. Hinton was ineffective against Bama so they put Andy Kelley in who won the starting job after that. Bama was the only loss that season. Webb injured his knee against Pacific (late in the game) in 1990. He had a great year in 89. If Cobb hadn't been kicked off, who knows what would have happened at Bama. I went to that game at Birmingham.

Webb ran wild in the Cotton Bowl after the 1989 season. The TN kick in the nads soon followed.
1989 was the Cobb-Webb year... until Cobb effed it up.

(or completed shovel passes if you wish) That was one of the most miserable UT games I have every sat through. If the inability to stop Bama (and wasn't that the Gary Hollingsworth game? The Bama losses all seem to run together) weren't bad enough on its own my seat was literally behind a post at Legions of the Miserables Field and a Bammer fan woman who had to weigh at least 325 pounds sitting right next to me (or really on me considering she was taking up her seat, my seat, and the seat on the other side of her) was continually farting the entire game. It was a terrible experience.

6 to 9 might have been worse Don't know. You ever had a 325 pound Bama woman sitting on you and farting on you the entire game that you can't see because you are directly behind a post that is holding up the upper deck? That's about as bad as it gets.

That's about as bad as it gets. You have a thing for them fat gals. Remember the two next two us at Ted Nugent that were flirting with you! I don't think I was too far from that post. Mrs. Rude went with me. Some smart ass Bama fraternity prick saw my orange and commented real hateful "Up Reggie's nose" after the game. I turned around and Mrs. Rude restrained me. Was that you Koz? I told Mrs. Rude I wasn't coming back to a game in Birmingham again but changed my tune in 95 when Tenn thumped them. Take that Koz for your Stacey comment.

Those two at the Uncle Ted show looked like Twiggy compared to this bammer woman. You know that pic that has floated around the interwebz of the huge woman in a bammer bikini? I think that was her.

And one other thing to add: My drunken former brother in law was sitting on the other side of me belching bourbon in my face the entire game, too. Between the bammer woman farting, my drunken former brother in law belching, the upper deck support post that kept me from seeing the game, the fact that we were packed in tighter than sardines so I couldn't move, AND Gary Hollinsworth having his career game, it was a miserable day for me.

This is the US Bureau of Political Correctness. You, one thunder good-oil, are hereby on notice as an entity of particular interest to us based upon your employment in a casual manner of the term "renigg". As such it falls into the categories of "offnig", "deletenig", "repressnigg", and many others. Henceforthwith know that we are aware of you, and we are on alert as to your apparent tendencies toward favoring the Incorrect. Ever Vigilant, your BPC I'm surprised that it took so long. But then again, I'm still waiting for OD to notice that my reply to his we can't beat our meat comment was that we beat the cocks. At least you do acknowledge a weak attempt at what might be called "humor", Sir. And for that, I say Thank ya. As to OD's alertness and alacrity, well on that I cannot say one way or another.

He's doing what the past coach couldn't; recruit at an elite level. I'm not going to judge him until I see more. At the very worse he's setting up the next coach....
