After losing to Arkansas I was worried that TN could have dropped about 10 in a row. Now I think that TN has a shot at beating Kentucky. KY's first five are four freshmen and a sophomore. Also, they have Kansas next Saturday and might could look ahead. 9pm start time on a Tuesday night might mean there is a smaller blue contingent in the TBA.

UT's guards don't play good defense. I'm worried that Monk and Fox will have field days.

At least TN matches up better since KY isn't anything special in the paint. I wonder how many take a turn guarding Monk? Phillips, Bone, Bowden, Parker, Turner, and maybe even Hubbs might get the assignment. The key for TN will be to get back on defense and make KY run their offense instead of scoring in transition. They can beat lazy teams to the basket even after scores.

10:00 minute mark 2nd half. Not a fan of Lamonte Turner. Misses 2 free throws and on next possession goes out of control 1 on 5 for missed layup.

UT played their butts off to win that game. Some great coaching by Barnes.

I hope that nasty Ashley Judd enjoyed that one.
Barnsie can coach his guys up. We just need to see him recruit some decent players to be able to coach them up.

I hope that nasty Ashley Judd enjoyed that one. Barnsie can coach his guys up. We just need to see him recruit some decent players to be able to coach them up. Every player Barnes has on the roster is far above decent. He's knocked it out if the park as far as his evaluations relative to the published rankings. If Barnes signs the French guy and Walker he's done until 2019. He'd need attrition in order to add a player in the 2018 signing class. Basilio has been slamming 2017, but he has signed some size with Zach Kent and technically Johnson and probably Fulkerson are part of this class. Barnes has adjusted his philosophy about putting together a roster. He's not building one centered around one-and-dones and he's not interested in thugs and bad attitudes even if they have a bunch of stars next to their names. He's also been tinkering with a Westhead/Loyola Marymount model in order to compensate for his lack of size. But not like the tiny guy driving the big ass dually truck.

Inching closer to the NCAAT. 6-3 might do it, but it will be hard to go 5-4 or better. It might require a good run in the SECT. I'll still be happy with a winning record and an NIT bid.
Currently sit at 13-9, 12-9 if excluding Chaminade. Almost have to sweep the next three. KY, USCe, GA, and the last one versus Alabama will be tough wins. The other 5 are must wins and a split with GA and Bama at home is needed.
@ Miss State (Sat 2/4) SECNW 3:30pm Mississippi (Wed 2/8) SECNW 6:30pm Georgia (Sat 2/11) ESPNU 4pm @ Kentucky (Tues 2/14) ESPN 7pm Missouri (Sat 2/18) SECNW 1pm Vanderbilt (Wed (2/22) SECNW 6:30pm @ USCe (Sat 2/25) SECNW 1pm @ LSU (Wed 3/1) SECNW 7pm Alabama (Sat 3/4) SECNW 1pm SECT (Wed 3/8-Sun 3/12) SECNW/ESPN

I'm not ready to talk or think about NCAA until they get a few more wins. It looks as if every player has bought in. Just need Bone to stop missing so many easy shots.

One bad loss knocks them out of the NCAAT unless they make a deep run in the SECT. Must win at Mississippi State. Must beat Mississippi. Must win at LSU. Must beat Vandy and Missouri in Knoxville. They're still on the outside looking in right now. I'm happy with an NIT invite... which isn't a done deal at all.
