Cowboy, that's good work. The gratuitous shots at Mississippi are a nice touch. I believe it was an SEC player that had one of my favorite names. Her mom apparently took a stab at "Consuela" and came up with "Conswella."

All time SEC team is C Jackson at the point and Bernard at the three. Other than those two locks, either Shaquille or Bowie at center. Then the last two... Kind of depends if the center is Bowie then probably Charles Barley. If the center is Shaquille then the other forward is wide open. Dominique maybe. Kenny Sky Walker maybe. I think thar the shooting guard is a toss up. If only looking at offense then probably Houston or Maravich. Requiring that position to also be a great defender throws it wide open. Jeff Malone is another shooter to consider. Not Dale Eli's since he wasn't playing that position in college. If he did I'd maybe give it to him based on defense too. That forward paired with Shaquille throws me. Dominique? Maybe make Bernard the 4. I'll go: Chris Jackson A Houston B King Sky Walker Shaquille But Houston worries me on defense. Maybe Jeff Malone, but I honestly don't know if he played defense either. Kenny Walker wasnt in the same universe as Wilkins and I bet none other than Michael Jordan would back me on that.

Bump for Reed's radio topic today. How can you bump a guy who doesn't even have Ernie Grunfeld in his UT top 7? CJ frickin' Black makes it, but not a two time all America, 4 time all SEC, member of the United States Olympic team. Young pups think basketball at UT started with Bruce Pearl.

Reed's a good boy though and it made me think of this thread.
Jon and JM will cut a man if you disrespect CJ Black.

People forget Grunfeld made that team. Fing Jimmy Carter. Thats the kind of fools the state of GA produces like some of our forum members from that state.

I'm pretty much over it. Cabin fever. Stir crazy. Ready to move to somewhere warm. Not disrespecting CJ Black at all. He got a lot out of his God given ability. But to have him on any kind of "all time" team, while omitting one of the greatest all around players to ever play in the SEC is just insane.

By position:
1) Houston 1-b) Rodney Woods 2) Lofton 2-b) Mike Edwards 3) Grunfeld 3-b) Dale Ellis 4) B King 4-b) Howard Wood 5) Boerwinkle 5-b) Reggie Johnson
Or reverse Houston and Lofton, Houston is the better ball handler, shooter, and threat off of the dribble. Lofton was most effective beyond the free throw line extended, sideline to sideline, so on offense Houston at a wing, Lofton out on the top of the key. Grunfeld on the wing opposite Houston, King with his back to the basket in the paint area and Boerwinkle/Johnson playing on the weak side for rebounding. Every possession... get the ball in Bernard's hands ASAP.

King did not have a single flaw in his game. He could post up, drive to the basket, shoot from the outside, make free throws, run the fast break/dribble in the open court, rebound, play defense, and one thing that gets overlooked was how great of a passer he was too. If teams would double team him they'd pay for it because he'd easily find the open man and get him the ball for uncontested shots. He didn't shoot much from what would be the three point area, because he didn't need to. He'd drive to the basket and blow right by the defender or pull up and knock down 12 footers like nobody's business. If he hadn't blown out his knees in his prime, there would be a legitimate debate about who was better... Bernard or Michael Jordan.

I'd say that's a pretty fair ranking Thunder.
Nobody really stands out at center--I don't know a thing about Boerwinkle. That would be a place where you could make a case for Stokes even though that's not really what he is.

Grunfeld usually played facing the basket, really good backing the defender in using his strength off the dribble, very good foul shooter, and good outside shooter. He had a slightly smaller Jarnell Stokes body but played with much more finesse.
Like King, he'd drain mid-range jumpers all night long. Used the back board a lot from the area just wide of the paint.
