DeMarre Carroll should be considered for Mizzou, I think. Kareem Rush too. Earnest Shelton for Bama was SEC POY around 02-03 I think. He was a stud. Rush is in the first five listed. Missed it. My bad.

All time SEC team is C Jackson at the point and Bernard at the three. Other than those two locks, either Shaquille or Bowie at center. Then the last two... Kind of depends if the center is Bowie then probably Charles Barley. If the center is Shaquille then the other forward is wide open. Dominique maybe. Kenny Sky Walker maybe. I think thar the shooting guard is a toss up. If only looking at offense then probably Houston or Maravich. Requiring that position to also be a great defender throws it wide open. Jeff Malone is another shooter to consider. Not Dale Eli's since he wasn't playing that position in college. If he did I'd maybe give it to him based on defense too. That forward paired with Shaquille throws me. Dominique? Maybe make Bernard the 4. I'll go: Chris Jackson A Houston B King Sky Walker Shaquille But Houston worries me on defense. Maybe Jeff Malone, but I honestly don't know if he played defense either. Creating a team where you are trying to fit guys by parts as if making a legitimate team is much harder. Like Jackson to me doesnt fit. I know he played Point but Lord a mercy he was a shooting guard if there ever was one. I remember Jackson taking most his shoots at the top of the key. I think of shooting guards as playing on the wing. True point guard is hard to peg - that might be Ennis... SEC really hasn't had a Stockton or Nash type that I can think of. I think of an SEC point as the guy that has the ball in his hands most of the time... And the best ones were looking to shoot. I'll keep Jackson there and Pistol Pete as the backup at the point. i don't know if there's ever been a better pair of players to give defenses fits more so than Jackson and Shaquille. Pack it in and Jackson would destroy you. Play Jackson tight and he'd find Shaquille for a slam. Nearly impossible to defend. How in the world Wade Houston managed to slow them down enough to beat them is one of life's mysteries. They must have both had explosive diarrhea that night.

Had history taken a different course, Aaron Craft would maybe have been the All Time SEC selection at point guard.

Correction: He was 1st team All-SEC in 2004-2005. Was the best player on their team that made the Elite 8. I'd say you're a little off. He wasn't the best player on team. kennedy Winston was. Toss up next between Shelton and Chuck Davis The year before was the elite 8 also Shelton was better. He keyed that run. And like I said was all SEC 04-05

Bruce Tranbarger. There's a name that brings back memories.
Bruce Tranbarger, John Gray, Lee Garber, Scott Fogle, Phil Begley, Rodney Blye, Derrick Flack, Steve Cross T.R. Robinson, & Mike McGinnis... I remember 5,000 packing the dome for the epic battles against Sullivan North back in the day.
Oops... got the thread slightly off track there.

I can talk about that for awhile. You from Tri-Cities, TT? That D-B team was a marvel. Lost in the 2nd round of the state tourney though which was how it always went for East Tennessee schools before Science Hill asserted itself. There haven't been players anywhere close to Tranbarger or Granville Arnold around here to this day. Granville's older brother Rodney played at Lynn View before consolidation and he was better than both of them.

Auburn G Eddie Johnson G Chuck Person F Mike Mitchell F Chris Porter C Charles Barkley Decent team, elevated by Barkley. Not many Auburn cant misses come to mind and the Internet isn't exactly chok full of Auburn basketball history. Wesley Person probably starts over Porter. Chris Morris was a great player also. John Mengelt

Mengelt average 26 and 28 last 2 years at Barn.(including 60 against Bammer 1 game) 10 year Nba career Big fan of Mengelt. He was one of a rather long list of hotshot Hoosier guards that ended up in the SEC in the days when the Big Ten was way more integrated than the SEC. I was actually thinking about doing a thread on "Jimmy Chitwood Heads South", or something like that.
