I'm a Fan, can't beat the food and price! THIS. It's like a Buddhist chant.

Grammy and I like Cheddar's. If you stick to the basics, they are fine and the prices are good. Somebody mentioned the fish tacos - one of my favorites, along with the New Orleans pasta. And their appetizers are priced well and you get plenty of food for your buck.
Plus the bar at the location on Clinton Highway has Highland Brewing Company's Gaelic Ale on tap. Anyplace that carries that craft beer is alright by me.

Give me a loaf of bread and some bologna any day over dealing with rubbish like Cheddars.
I mean who willingly goes into to such an establishment and waits an hour to eat frozen food?
Knoxville has an abundance of great non chain restaurants to choose from yet I see people grazing like sheep in the parking lot of Cheddars.
FULL ABYSMAL.

Knoxville really does have a nice share of independents.

Knoxville really does have a nice share of independents. Yes, it does and I like many of those very much and try to patronize those eateries as much as possible. Simply like Cheddar's, as well. There is a good mix of local and chains in this town.

Chipotle is on the way. Should help with overcrowding at the Sheepcake Factory and Cheddar's, too.

Pretty sure I posted this but why not again. Sheepcake Factory in Nashville is several notches above most chains.
Seems I was in there a dozen times during meetings back in my working days. They got a menu the size of a Long Island Phone Book. First time I saw that I figure there is no way they can do most of this stuff close to good with that many options. I was wrong. Excellent meals every time.
Now, I was an amateur chef once but no food snob like Mullings. Surely, the food is frozen prior to cooking.
Oh and Cheddars is fine. OCharleys or Olive Garden. That's all it is with a different name. Completely acceptable food but I gotta agree if you wait more than 10 minutes for a table you might want to consider a lobotomy.

Until the Cheddar's on Kingston Pike opened, the one close to me on Clinton Highway used to have those 30 minute to an hour waits. We moved on elsewhere when that was the case. We went at off times when the crowds weren't as great. When the one on Kingston Pike opened, however, we rarely ever have to wait at the one near us, even at "peak" times. As for the Cheesecake factory: I haven't been to the one in Knoxville yet. My wife went one day at lunchtime, but only after they had somebody go there and get them on the list. I've eaten at the one in Nashville, and while the food was OK I didn't find it any better than the food at Cheddar's. It's a nice atmosphere, but not worth the difference in price from other "casual" type eateries, in my opinion. Each to his or her own, I guess.

My whole complaint about Cheddar's is how people act like their prices are half the price of every other place and act like their food is so much better than other places. Sure, it's a little cheaper and they're food is pretty good. But it's not so much cheaper and not so much better to make it worth waiting an hour to get in. I'll go down the road and pay a couple of dollars more and get seated right away.

We went to the Outback on Merchants last Friday at a little after six with three other couples. Wasn't too busy, no line. The waitress was very good, got us our drinks then took our orders. In a little while, they brought out the food for two couples, they would wait for the rest of us to be served. Five minutes past, ten minutes, 15.....WTF !!! Called our waitress, she said she'd check, food was getting cold. A management clone came out and told us they could only cook 4 orders at a time.

Knoxville really does have a nice share of independents. Best place to impress a gal with great food to boot is Humps in Powell.
