The Fire Butch crowd are idiots. Simple enough for you? "Embrace the suck...err...process..."

As were the Fire Cuonzo crowds.
Its NEVER the coach, admin, players, etc. Always the fans who cause these losses.
If just more fans were like Thunder, why, UT might achieve 50 losing seasons in a row!

It's still too early to say Butch can't coach at this level. But losing a very winnable game to Florida and reminders he lost to Dooley are hard to forget.

Dooley also went 6-2 in games he won his first year.

I'm not out on Butch just yet but I'm getting there. He is so stubborn. He is still relatively young though so maybe he can learn from his mistakes. I will agree that if he doesn't adapt a little that he isn't going to get it done. Maybe a QB that actually fits his system, like Dobbs, will make it possible for him to win here. Based on preseason, no one saw Dobbs being ready for him to do what he did against Bama. He is obviously a game and the reason he looked so much better that last year is that he knows the system now. He was just kinda thrown out there last year. Dobbs has the potential to be a very good SEC QB. But we will see how they adapt from here. Also re:Dobbs, as was mentioned more than once yesterday, @ +25 lbs. he is physically much more prepared for success @ QB going forward.

So this is year two of a twenty year program where you patiently wait for Butch to age as the losses and humiliation mount & about the time he's Medicare eligible UT will compete for the SEC-E? No. If he doesn't adapt he will fail. Given his age, he can still adapt in time to save his job. I'm of the belief that he should win at least 8 next year, no excuses. But it isn't up to me. Most likely he is here at least 4 years. So that is how much time he has to adapt. 2016 is the do or die year. For me it would be next year, but I'm not Dave Shart and the boosters. And Keep in mind that Dhart was pushing to keep Dooley as things continued to implode.

Very few coaches wouldn't have done the same tjing and taken a field goal. It was a mistake to dust off the beast on 3 rd down. I don't believe this for a second. Instead of being down three scores, that made field goal got us within three scores. There's no typo there. If he couldn't see how undermanned we were against those guys, there's no hope for him. As much as I like a lot of our young players, we didn't match up with them at a single position on the field. Alabama would have had to lose the game, we weren't going to beat them. Maybe, if you get a touchdown there and it goes to 27-21, they get a little nervous and hit the clutch. I doubt it, but it would have been a whole lot more interesting. So, basically, what did he have to lose?

It was going to be:
27-14 27-10 27-7
27-10 was 95% certainty or better.
27-7 was more probable than 27-14. Much more probable. 4th and one, one TO left, going to have to pick up a yard to get first down, then spike the ball then throw the ball with a QB that isn't real accurate. Then have one more shot with the time out in pocket. All that with less than 40 seconds, I can understand that the risk/reward of taking a sure three v a difficult seven dictated taking the three.

Obviously, they had to pick up the first, but that would stop the clock. I felt like you would have more than one opportunity w/ 30+ seconds and a timeout.
I guess it boils down to the fact you and jones thought three scores wasn't too big of an obstacle to overcome. Based on what I had seen of these two teams, I thought it was crystal clear it was.

The difference was a touchdown and a field goal in the third quarter.

until the next drive when it was two touchdowns and a field goal. (we had reached a natural break in this discussion, but you didn't see that either)

I guess you went for that Coke in the third quarter and missed it.

Lyle was unsure what to do under those circumstances because generally when his teams get buried in a game, you dont see the comeback.

It was a nice comeback, but that was a morale busting drive they had that ate up the rest of the 3rd qtr.

he going to have to grow a set if he is going to compete. playing not to lose and for moral victories is not going to get UT where it should be.
