The judge did dismiss a second count because the victim wasn't remembering it.
All of what Mag makes the most sense, but that's not how Satterfield is reporting it.

Very little mentioned about the victim. Not that it should matter in the outcome of the case, but maybe she is perfectly fine now and didn't want him convicted. I think she did testify for the prosecution but I don't remember anything twittered about what she was saying.

It's been 10+ years. The girl probably had a crumby memory, and they couldn't prove anything. But that is where the legal system is weird. Dude confessed to it. He could have denied it, and there would have REALLY been no way to prove it. There is just a burden of proof on the prosecution. No crime scene, no evidence, the case would have been he said/she said. But HE said he did it. Suppose in his mental state he THINKS he did it but didn't. I know that's as far out on the limb as I can be but it's plausible.

"I wonder if there's more to it that's not being reported by Satterfield"
I will remind the listening audience that Jamie Satterfield vehemently denied HOOF's version of trial deliberations in the Newsome/Christian trials. She told me that she had absolute inside the jury contact information that said his stories of prayers/song singing NEVER HAPPENED.

Good point Link. But maybe JS was getting info. about the wrong trial. After all they had 100000000 hearings for those animals.

No, she was very adamant that SHE was right and HOOF was lying. Came off pretty arrogant IMO.

This sounds like a John Grisham novel mixed with a little Jeery Springer

Hoof's account is now in the memory hole since SSS got canned.

Btw Updyke and Ross are very similar looking, coincidence? Plus, Ross was known as TN Big Al and Updyke is fond of wearing big Al the elephant on his head.
