That's it. Nothing more to it. From Bruce Feldmans column:
"As good as McCarron is--the guy doesn't make many mistakes--it's hard to make the case for him as a Heisman frontrunner when he wasn't the best quarterback on the field Saturday.
Johnny Manziel showed the country that he has made significant strides and is a lot better than he was in his Heisman Trophy-winning season in 2012. All of the talk about how Nick Saban and Alabama had months of getting ready to contain Manziel looked overblown and downright silly.
As one college coach texted me Saturday night: 'The guru part of the game is way overrated.' "

If Fulmer doesn't let that one choke away in 2001, in the title game, Saban doesn't gain the foothold, and become unstoppable.
Coaching never overcomes talent.

If this 2014 class holds together there are several instant impact kind of guys there. That might stop a little of the bleeding but it's going to take 2-3 such classes just to get back to treading water in the SEC.

Never is a bit of a stretch. I mean if there is a big talent gap, I don't care if Vince Lombardi is out there it won't matter. It's how Phillip Fulmer and Mack Brown have won a national title.

There is no argument here. Occasionally it can be overcome in basketball but not football.

Yeah, Bruce Pearl had no talent on that first team.
Whatever.

Coaching loses games all the time
