From ball games back in the day.
Not about the actual games, but other memorable stuff. Mullins' Dad pulling over to puke on the way to Lexington is a good example.

My Dad leaving our seats in the 96 citrus bowl and standing by the fence, vigorously cheering as Tennessee ran out the clock vs the buckeyes.

My Dad having me get out of the car to move a parking barrier at ten yrs old for my first game. Right in front of a cop. Who proceeded to tell Dad that "I won't tow you but they will".
Who knows who "they" was. We moved the car.

We always have that game against Miss State, and NOBODY being up there in my section, and we sat in the wrong seats. Me telling that dude "I've sat here for 10 years". That was a classic.

In 1990, me and my old man went to Mississippi State. That was the famous Bernard Dafney fumblerooski game. Tony Thompson was starting tailback because Chuck Webb had gotten hurt against Pacific.
However, you have to stay in a different town than Starkville, and we went to a hotel,in obviously the wrong town, and Southern Miss' team was staying there, as they were playing in Tuscaloosa the next day.
We walked in, and this coach started yelling at me to get in there and eat. I said, I think we are at the wrong place. He said "Get in there to eat, because we have to get out of here soon."
"I said, "sir. I am still in high school".
Brett Favre and them went out the next day and beat Bama.

I love the stories around the games, as much as the games themselves.

I just looked it up, and it says they actually played in Birmingham.
They must have been in the wrong town too.

We went by the UT hotel the next day, and one of the UT guys told me to get on the bus. I should have suited up, and played. Johnny and my dad probably had a few together that night.

However, the UT cheerleaders were staying at our hotel on Friday night. They were out in the pool messing around, and I went down there and got in.
None of those gals wanted anything to do with me.

The Vols almost threw the ball away right before Tyler Smith hit that inside shot to beat Ole Miss a few years ago. I heard a high-pitched shriek while the possession was in jeopardy. When it was over, my nephew nudged me and said, "I just squealed like a girl."
He later found a video on YouTube that someone had taken at the other end of the arena during that sequence. The crowd sorta held its breath for a second and you can actually hear his shriek.
