The guy let a pedophile have run of the locker room for 30 years...
To say the NCAA overstepped or was imperfect is fine.
But "threw under the bus"
Joe Pa deserves the stigma of pedophile enabler.
Restore the wins. Who cares....
The man is no hero. And his family (Jay particularly) is a set of complete douchebags. How's that for a legacy JP?

404whore, the problem with that is that there is zero evidence that Joe knew or enabled anything. None.

I thought that there was an investigation around 1998. That should have raised a flag. Maybe Joe was napping.

And IMO, it's outside of the NCAA's jurisdiction. Even if Joe knew.

An investigation that failed to bring enough evidence to press charges. What would you expect Joe to conclude about that?
Joe pushed Jerry out of coaching shortly afterwards. They never had a great relationship & its doubtful they had much contact when Sandusky was no longer on staff. What else should/could he do?

Did Sandusky use the shower room after the first investigation?

Did Sandusky use the shower room after the first investigation?
Yes. Sandusky remained on good terms with people in power at PSU and he was actually listed as an assistant professor emeritus of physical education & had his own office just across the street from the football building, even though he was no longer employed as a football coach. And to my knowledge, he still ran his Second Mile charity for youth.
I'm still not sure how that puts the blame on Paterno's shoulders.

Plenty of blame to go around. Paterno might should of kept an eye on things after an investigation, whether it brought charges or not. He was in charge and wasn't Sandusky allowed access to the PSU football program?

If an investigation turned up nothing, and if you operate under the assumption of innocent until proven guilty I don't know that limiting access would be a good idea.
Now, after the incident witnessed by Big Red, I don't know why they didn't keep better tabs on things. Joe took that up the chain of command, but nothing was done. But then again, putting myself in their shoes, I'm not sure if I would believe someone the age as McQuerey when they supposedly witnessed this first hand but wouldn't take it to the police themselves. And keep in mind, we are talking about a popular public figure that runs a children's charity. So Jerry has the sociopath/master-manipulator thing down pretty well.
Its not like they had a known victim come forward to give warning, or any victim willing to talk. So yeah, in hindsight, perhaps they should have kept a better eye on things. But to label JoePa as a pedophile enabler is going way too far. And that's the myth that Emmert & Freeh led the masses to believe and that is hardly the case here.

Paterno defered to his higher ups on Sandusky. Didn't he also tell them to eff off when they told him to step down as coach? Which chain of command should apply when kids are getting raped by a coach?

Obviously you know something that isn't in the Freeh report or that hasn't been made public. I suppose Joe knew everything & probably reserved shower time for Jerry and his boys.
