Carter and Berry were both great players. Grant was close.
I couldn't say who is better.

Both great players. Monte did Berry no favors using him as a run stopper. Dude would have set NCAA int return record.

In all seriousness, Berrys game hasn't translated to the pros nearly as well as Carter. And yeah, he's made some Pro Bowls but it has to be off of reputation. Because when I've watched him, he can't handle big receivers at all.
Not saying he's terrible or anything close to a bust but so far he isn't a elite DB as Carter was from day 1 for the Chiefs.
As far as UT careers its a tough one. Berry was essentially the only one on the field worth a damn. Lord knows how much we lose some of those games without him. And I agree with DC that Kiffin using him as a defacto Monster Man hurt his stats. Though any coach with a brain would have done the same.
Dale Carter was a transcendent talent--the best pure athlete in my lifetime watching UT and that includes Pickens. In fact, if they had used Carter like Pickens he might have got a Heisman look.
Deon Grant may well be the most underrated great player for UT. Everybody gives Al Wilson all the credit for the '98 team but if you were at the Florida game that year you know there is no way in hell we win that game without Deon Grant. He also won the game the following year in Gainesville with the late pick. Tee picked that day to not be able to hit the broad side of a barn unfortunately.
Finally, it should be said I used to hear a lot of thug life stories about Carter. And he found trouble in the NFL several times as well. I've never heard a whisper of anything but class about Eric Berry and that has to count for something. In fact, it should count for a damn bunch.

None of the basketball players ever did a rap song about Dale Carter.

Absolutely right DC. He did not like contact at all. A Deon Sanders if there ever was one.
Great, GREAT player and had a good NFL career but well short of the level of Dale Carter and even Eric Berry.

I've got to agree with the Cowboy. Berry was great, but Carter was something more, electric, whatever you want to call it. He was a two time All-American. I'd say UT has very few guys that did that twice.

Remember the Vandy game in 2008 where he pretty much played QB the whole game and I think had a pick-6... WILD BERRY PACKAGE!

I change my vote to Gerald Griffin. Don't think I've ever agreed with Mullings on any subject and I ain't starting now.

Dale Carter absolutely a better college player than Peyton. Certainly much more talented.
The other two? Um, no.
