Excellent observation. Competition is a very evil thing to the average lib. Primarily because all they have known is losing their entire life.
Hypocrite though kind of goes without saying. That applies to them in every facet of life.

I agree from the standpoint that Athletics is typically a meritocracy. Winners win. Losers lose. Etc. (except for their soccer leagues where everybody gets a trophy.). Any competition I'd is foreign to libs
No the other hand I think you can have some great sports fans of all political stripes & athletics is one of the few things they can agree on.
I'm sure there are some strange bedfellows in the luxury suites at Neyland.

I agree from the standpoint that Athletics is typically a meritocracy. Winners win. Losers lose. Etc. (except for their soccer leagues where everybody gets a trophy.). I like the leagues where everybody gets a trophy when they are really little. You know, the tee-ball type stuff. Then when you get a little older only the winners get one. It gives kids something to strive for. My daughter got TWO trophies. One for winning the regular season, and one for winning the tourney. My son got one for winning the league. That kind of thing teaches them how to handle disappointment as well. What I hate it having to give money toward a gift certificate for the coach. Before I had kids, I coached a lot of youth league sports. We won the league every year. I never got a gift certificate. One of my players' mom worked for a company that made sports jerseys. I got a Dan Marino jersey. That's all I ever got.

In my sons leagues so far, all players get a trophy and the Champion team players get a ribbon with a little medal attached.
Always thought they had that backward.

clearly no socialist practices in sports... like salary caps, or rewarding failure with higher draft picks...
