My story...straight from the heart...
Found Tony when I moved here in 2000. Been listening ever since. I didn't "get him" at first. I thought it was unprofessional to chew lunch while on the air, I didn't get all the inside jokes, etc., etc. I hung in there and the show grew on me. I liked the fact that it was different and not the standard "I'll hang up and listen". It really did seem like the listeners/callers were...not necessarily a family per se, more of a fraternity, maybe. I then happened upon SPS and that helped tie things together. More than anything I felt like TB and his show allowed me to become a member of this community. I'll continue to tune in whenever/wherever he lands. TB truly is the common fan.

No I didn't. Bottom line I've sampled a bit of the show because it is so well liked here. Much like if someone was to recommend a restaurant. I tried it. I didn't like it. I asked what you all like about it. I still don't understand what you like about it other than it is familiar. And I'll suggest while it is well liked by your small group it isn't an opinion shared by the masses. If it was it would be more commercially successful.

404 just owned all TN loyalists.
I've never heard him a single time.

I enjoy the sophmoric antics and humor aspect, and I like that he has the same feelings I do watching games, as he is a fan.
Tony has a rep outside of Knoxville and has had opportunities to expand but his decision making is not based on cash, it's based on his family and his faith, which is another reason I will continue to support. He would be successful anywhere.

Tony and I have been friends since we were in college. I didn't start listening until about 1995 but I've mostly been a daily listener since then. He doesn't portray himself as a journalist, but he's got better sources than all of the $$$$ reporters and he actually cares about UT and the sports teams rather than just seeing them as a meal ticket unlike We$, Jimmy et al. He'll also call a spade a spade unlike the ex-jock homers.
He has put roots down here and mostly does the show for fun and frivolity. He's got other paying gigs but does the show to keep the community of listeners together and provide an alternative to State Run Radio and Jock Sniff Radio.
I hope he keeps a daily gig and doesn't just do the post game show he's been pumping.

That's another underrated aspect of Tony's show- he knows his shit. The MFer has killer sources because he listens to fans who spend their money on UT and know what they're talking about, not Brent Hubbs.
