With the exception of josh and will and of course the clone, the local sports talk in ktown absolutely blows.

Holy dammit. I just went on a rant that I spent 20 minutes typing and it all went away like a fart in the wind when I hit the wrong button.

Well, here's the condensed version. I ain't got the energy to do it all again.
It's one thing to criticize a particular day's show. However, if you disagree with the host's approach to his show, why bother listening? I've been listening to Brocky, Beano, JB, SmallMike, Freddy, ZR, TR, Sean, Philly, WLynn, Big Al, Doc Rudder, and others get on TB's show for years and be given the time to get out in the open whatever is on their mind. It was the place for the common fan to come and say whatever they thought without the filter of the Big Orange Screw to edit or silence them.
Who gives a shit what the "successful, profitable" national shows do? This is Knoxville, TN. If the national show format was profitable here, we'd have two or three stations playing nothing but NFL and NBA talk all day long. Why would they pay the extra $ for a local host when they could just pay the flat fee for a generic host to take calls from Cedar Rapids to talk about the Lions offensive line and their woes since moving to Ford Field. Basilio has his own style and he has figured out what works. It damn sure works for me. I don't give a hell about most sports. Quite frankly, with a mortgage, bills, a baby, and all of life's shit, it makes no sense why a transplanted yankee who is a polar opposite of me should get my support, $, and loyalty for years now, but he does. He knows what works. He doesn't give a damn what the successful national shows do. He has figured out what works here. Quite frankly, I don't understand why someone who would object to the common theme of the show would waste their time listening. Go listen to Jim Rome. That's the successful national formula. I'm not trying to be mean or nasty. Seriously, if caller pace and that particular format is what moves your needle, go listen to that show. If you can hear a call from Doc Rudder and then say, "caller pace, caller pace, caller pace", then The Edge with Tony Basilio is not your show. No big deal. No harm, no foul.

Cloney buys his time just Basilio has been doing. It's as if he's daring JayBay to pull the plug on him, but who cares when it's an 11-1 on Sunday? Nobody. Jaybay doesn't have to sell that time slot. It'd just get wrapped up in the package deal he offers to the other sponsors anyway. It's probably $500-$750 a month he banks with no effort anyway. The TSR intern tweetered Cloney yesterday and said he'd post it if Cloney would email it to him. I've yet to see it posted. I'd actually pay $ to hear this past Sunday's if he was doing the rip job that folks are saying he did.
