Josh - Thanks for the shot of Hopium I expect way fewer injuries due to improvements in strength and conditioning. Good points on talent returning. The boys were definitely incompetently coached, and definitely not developed under the previous regime.
JPruitt "expects to win", and his track record as DC reflects this.
Can Pruitt execute the transition from from DC (3 high level stops) to successful head coach in the SEC? Anybody's guess at this point. But I'll say this: the chances of a positive result are vastly improved with Fulmer as AD. Philip will mentor Pruitt, successfully, if Pruitt can accept and act on Fulmer's input.
However the season unfolds, I believe we are on the right track long term.
Fantastic that in a few short weeks it will once again be Football Time in Tennessee!

It's almost football time! Fulmer gives me a lot of confidence. He know's what it takes to win. Pruitt has been around 3 other coaches who know what it takes to win. I really think it's a new day at Tennessee. I'm glad I can provide some Hopium. Haha. I guess that will be my role this year since everyone else is serving up despair.

IMO Fulmer had plateaued as our head coach and he needed to be forced out. Then due to inept leadership @ AD + upper we devolved down a terrible tube for last decade. I think Kiffen could have brought us back short term, though at the likely great cost of scandal, and that would have been at great long term cost. Prob for the best that he bolted for USC after 1 year.
Think Fulmer took opportunity to reflect over last 10 years, got over being butt hurt over being canned, and now through the total goof of the coaching search finally ends up back at UT @ AD. Then expediciously finds and hires Jeremy Pruitt for the reset. Only at Tennessee.

Fulmer was out of gas at the end. I believe he knows that now.

Hell he knew it at the time, but would not consciously admit it.

His previous vision was to ride into the sunset with 8 win seasons and contract renewals as the bar for success....
Fired for good reason

Through ridiculous chain of events Fulmer reemerges, after ten years, as our Savior of Tennessee Athletics.
Absolutely remarkable

I was ready to move on from Fulmer at the time too. I still think it was the right move. I just look back on that and think how different things would have been if we had just hired Gary Patterson then. He wanted the job.
