Many complained when it was revealed Butch was getting a $100k bonus just for making the Music City Bowl. There was a rumor going around yesterday he was donating his bowl bonus to the people of Gatlinburg. Over 24 hours later, there hasn't been anything reported on this. Guess this was another "fake news" story.

It seems to have started with a Butch hating, anonymous internet troll that is trying to shame CBJ into making that donation. It's really a bunch of BS. Butch isn't accountable to the public for how he uses his money. He gives back plenty already... he just doesn't expect to get a bunch if publicity out if it. Fulmer empties his closet of his 4X orange gear, that I'm pretty sure he never spent a dime of his own money on, sends it to Gatlinburg, and he gets fluffed by all of the local media outlets.

Butch needs all the positive cache he can get right now. If he were to do something like that, it would be in his best interest to let that info leak out to the media. They'd eat it up. On the flip side, most good people that do these sorts of things do it with very few people knowing about it.

I know little about PR, but I'd ignore it and hope it dies down. Making a donation announcement will also stir up the narrative that he's getting paid $4.1mm a year and he's chit the bed. Actually the best thing to do IMO is to make a donation, keep it under wraps, let the vocal haters crucify him, and then at a later date let it leak out that a big-ass donation had in fact been made.
