His passing is a tragedy, like that of any 49 year old father that is buried well before his time.
But, let's not make him out to be Martin Luther Cosell. He was nether a great civil rights champion nor an elite broadcast journalist (hell cb45 can read scores).

No, he wasn't either, but what he was was one of the very few ESPN Sportcenter anchors who didn't believe that the world revolved around him. I found him entertaining and to be a solid sports broadcaster.

Your pal Barry with a place on Penn Ave issued a statement about this death basically saying the same thing, Gramps. So you are probably correct...

As a guy in my mid 30's, many nights I decided to pass on some sleep to catch sports center if Stuart Scott was on. Now he didn't bring world peace or change human rights. But he did provide a lot of entertainment and laughs to many sports lovers and inspired others in their fight with cancer. Pretty solid resume in my book.

He was a punk ass bitch, IMO. You've followed the thread title and nailed it. Back, back, back, back... it's out of the park.

The White House released a statement so he must be a pretty big deal... I mean the white house doesn't release statements for just anybody.... SS brought peace and harmony to the world. His thoughts on fiscal policy saved the country from economic disaster. He read that teleprompter like a champ... Same as POTUS does.

Now if Berman's colon were to explode and he died on the toilet attempting to expel his three Big Mac lunch, would POTUS make a statement?
