That Stanford/Cal crap is overblown. Two shitty, hippy teams. And there was at least one instance where a guy was down if not two.
The only things I think if even remotely close is the Gibson home run (considering the Eckersley and A's aura at the time plus Gibsons injury). Maybe also Buster Douglas knocking out Tyson in terms of shocking although Douglas dominated that fight.
But those pale compared to this. And heck, that Georgia game is not far behind.

I cant put any of those above this one.
A number of factors:
Auburn being at home and the level of emotion in the stadium.
The hatred between the two programs.
The passion that exists for college football is unlike any level of any other sport.
What was at stake.
The fact that Alabama had possession and was the team attempting the kick for the win.
The swings of emotion DURING the play. For just a moment, it appeared the kick may have a chance(at least on TV), then it was "ok, cool, OT" then escalated to "he may have a chance" to "Holy Chit what did I just witness??".
The aftermath w/ crazy Bama fan stories and tragedies.
