That's a good half hour or more with traffic closer for me to go see my Bravos.
To get to the new stadium you go to the Big Chicken in May-reta and hang a left, thank you Lewis Grizzard.

Damn Gramps you must have a way with traffic! I bet most fans coming from 75 North save closer to an hour if trying to make a weekday 7:05 start. 2 hours on a Friday.
This is a huge plus for our more distant fans to the North. And there are a great deal of regional fans.
Add to that much more attractive to fans that make a weekend of it. Most weekender Braves fans didn't stay down by the stadium b/c nothing was there (& the obviously perceived safety issues) & most middle class families didn't stay at the fancy places in the City core for price (or perceived price) issues or ease of parking.

Yep, all good points. A half hour is for a Sunday game when there isn't much traffic. Otherwise you are correct. Also correct on hotels. Even the downtown hotels are not close enough and the route wasn't safe enough to walk, anyway. We have stayed in the mid-town area (near the Fox Theater) on many occasions when my wife went with me, but even that area isn't that close and its a pain getting to Turner Field. We normally end up staying in May-reta and just driving down and paying the parking fee at the stadium. Dog, yes - the big chicken still stands.

But is not Atlanta historically a luke warm to apathetic sports city?
Point being that a large portion of Atlanta sports franchise support comes from outside Atlanta.
I'd have to suppose the demographics bear this out.
Looks, on the surface at least, to be a well calculated business move.

36 or so hours into this announcement I think shock is over & reality is setting in for most fans.
For Most of the vast majority of the Metro Area's 6 million people +/- life won't change much.
Reality at least for me is there will still be a MLB franchise about 10 miles from my home.
I will likely still go to the 3 or 4 games a year I've gone to for the last decade.

This is just another ploy, for the thieves in the state of Georgia, to inch closer to the Tennessee State line, and steal the Tennessee River.
I guess this also comes closer to making Chattanooga a true suburb of Atlanta, and having Chatt-town's population in the Greater ATL MSA
Marta stations going up in East Ridge, would not surprise me at all.

It's all growing together.
Used to, on a drive to Florida, from Knoxville, you went through Chattanooga, then through Atlanta, while stopping for the endless construction,
Then nothing much until Valdosta.
No it's basically, you get to Dalton, you are in Atlanta for hours, even with no stops.

Yes, those Georgian bastards do truly covet our water (and it is ours by God). You may well be onto some thing there. Thieves they are, and rapscallions and of the Scofflaw tribe as well. Trust is a concept that bunch is unequipped to comprehend, much less understand and employ. But In the End - we are Tennessee and they are Georgia. Plain as day.
