Playcalling in particular. And really answered the bell after getting behind again.
So that's 1 half well done compared to 6 that were an abomination. (Peay and W Kentucky dont count for obvious reasons)
I like those odds...

I see where you are going with that. Have you ever heard of improving and learning during the course of a season? New coaching staff, new system, alot of young players starting???
If they come out and get stomped by USCe then you can tell me so.

You HAVE to steal a win from one of those big four. The last two were laid on a silver platter.
One chance left, Bama is impossible.

Might just steal one agains USCe. They aren't that great. Clowney is being a clown but of course he will probably be raring to to a week from Saturday. Bama is very unprobable but not impossible. Who the hell knows?
No way am I saying Tenn can beat Bama but stranger things have happened in college football.

This year if UT goes 4-0 in the toss up games and don't lose one of the three Sisters of the Poor games they've had a great first year of Butch. If they steal one of the other 5 as well then Butch is National Coach of the Year.

I can't argue with that. It's just the sheep are going nuts over one good half in a LOSS where they couldn't close the deal.
Losing is still part of the DNA and its a tall order to reverse that.

Baby steps. You have to start somewhere.
The fact that DD was actually the coach here for 3yrs is increasingly unbelievable.

People are just glossing over the fact they lost a lot of players.
HOWEVER, I will step away from my white flag and give a compliment.
The thing I like the absolute best about this coaching staff, is that they adhere to my favorite General Neyland Maxim. That is. "Play for, and make the breaks, and when one comes your way SCORE".
We do really well at capitalizing on the chances we get. The Pig Howard deal was a great play, and it just didn't work out. But the blocked punt was great. We have scored off of turnovers.
UGA was beat up, but we did take advantage of that. That game was one we really needed to win. All the breaks can't go your way though.
I know many good coaches have let games slip out of their hands in their first year. I am not totally giving up on Lyle Jones, and I did like the effort. If a game like that slips out of his hands in year 3, I say fire the guy. But it was fun to see a game like that, at this time.
But the problem with society these days, and fans of sports teams, is that they want their team to be great. I think we still have a LONG way to go, and am expecting a losing season this year. Some think we are back NOW. We are not.
I don't think we will be back next year either. If you get shit in your refrigerator, it takes a lot longer to clean that up, than it does to clean food out of your toilet.
That team played over their heads on Saturday, but really, let's be honest. UGA didn't play very well.
The next two games are against coaches that are the best the SEC has seen since General and Bear.
We lose the next two, without a doubt in my mind.

15-21 the last three years... dang right looking for something positive. After getting run out of the stadium by the #2 team in the country, it's an achievement to take #6 to OT. It's still a loss, but it's better than losing by nearly half a hundred like three weeks earlier. It's something to be positive about. One got away. Brick by brick... right Magnum?

Well said Magnum. I was getting worried about you.
I disagree about your last comment. Tenn has a real good shot at beating Spurrier.
I also disagree about next year. I think we see big improvement next year.
Go Vols!

Georgia lost key, experienced players but they had just as much talent available to fill in. What happened Saturday, for those that weren't there, the stadium was absolutely rocking. GA still had more talent on the field, but they were young and were rattled by the atmosphere. Same thing happened to a freshman named Peterman at the Swamp.
I don't think that much of the negativity is coming from those that were at the game in person. It was a chicken skin type of game.

Big difference between improvement and being "BACK". I believe we will see improvement Dog. I am talking about the people that think we start competing for titles next year.
Spurrier's teams usually don't make a bunch of mistakes, which is what we need for us to beat them.
It is a very rare game against UT, that Spurrier's teams aren't at their best.
You can only get a team up, like Saturday, so many times. I still think 6 wins is a really good season for THIS TEAM.
Next year, get 7 or 8 and it is a really good season.
Step by step. Or Brick by Brick.

Kiffin took it to Spurrier. I am not guaranteeing a win but I think it is very possible.
I see your point about being "Back". We do have a ways to go for that.

I'd feel a lot better about SC if it weren't at 10 in the morning. Gonna be hard pressed to replicate the GA atmosphere at that time.
And no I wasn't at the game but I've seen 75 or so in there. The noise was coming thru the TV loud and clear and was a gigantic part of how that game got close.
It's probably why I am so frustrated. A Neyland crowd rarely carries a UT team to a win and by God they were doing that Saturday.
Gigantic opportunity lost.
But it's done and I'll move on.
