Gus (real name Jim for those of you who know him), who lives in Johnson City, has been really battling for this life. He fell and was unconscious for 4 days before being found barely alive in his home in late August. He has been in a combination of intensive care, regular hospital care, rehab center, and VA facility until this past Friday when he got to come home with home health services. Obviously he is better, but he still has a ways to go.
If you know Jim I am confident that he would appreciate an email or phone call.

There should be a surgeon general's warning on UT message boreds: "Studies suggest participation on this bored may be hazardous to your health..."

Yes he is a great guy. I had e-mailed him before the Austin Peay game to see if he was going to be there. Must have been before he had fallen. I need to call him too. Love ole Gussy!
I have been praying for him all along cause I know he has had some health issues.
Thanks for posting!

Appreciate the info. Jim and I spoke a few times via email in the past. I'll have to see if I still have his email address and drop him a get well note.

I'd love some contact info.
I used to talk to him every Saturday morning when I was answering the phones for the Calhoun's Saturday Show. Always looked forward to his call. We would talk for 10-15 minutes sometimes before I put him on the air. Just talkin' Vols and life in general.

This is awful. At least it appears he's on the road to recovery. Get well soon, Gus!
Guys, I hope we are all still bitching, moaning and ripping a UT coach daily for the next 50 years. It pains me Gussy had to lay there like that.
