From Peter King:
"Dustin Colquitt, P, Kansas City. In a 17-16 field-position game at Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City’s MOST VALUABLE PLAYER was the punter in the win over Dallas. His seven punts landed at the Dallas 23-yard line, the 5-, the 10-, the 10-, the 15-, in the end zone, and at the 4-. That last one made it impossible for the Cowboys to rally in the last minute of the game."
I remember a game against South Carolina in Neyland. Holtz was still the coach and I think his last year. They had a RB named Demetrius Summers who had about 690 yards rushing. We ended up winning in OT but I guarantee we get boatraced without Colquitt. He had 4 punts that night inside the five.
I bet if you went back and looked there were half a dozen other games that were the same. Post '98 it was vintage Fulmer.

Football really hasn't changed since the General was coaching. Blocking and tackling is a big part, good special teams can make or break a team.
Remember in 97, David Leverton could hardly even catch a punt snap, much less kick it where it needed to go. In 98, he got it together and did really well.
And when has UT been good, without a good kicker?
I mean, if you have an offense as good a Oregon, it doesn't matter, but if you have an offense like we had in 98, it matters.
Jeff Hall is legendary, as much as a kicker can be, for hitting that kick against Syracuse in the opener, up there. Then he, vs the dude at Florida, was the difference in that game. 1998 doesn't happen without great special teams.

Who gives a shit. It sounds downright wonderful at the moment. Now we have assfisting hashtags, ghetto uniforms, and a point total loss that dates back to the rickets era.

Remember the win vs. Miami a few years back? If memory serves, Colquitt was the difference in that game.
Wasn't that the "f-ing soldier for this U" game?

It was the soldier game. I think we had 100 yards of offense that day.
Relative to kicking, I don't know that I can remember a year in my lifetime that UT didnt have the best Kicker and Punter in the league or at least in the conversation.
That is until Kiffin and Retardy hit the scene.

The kick was a little low. Hit him in the armpit.

kiffin got blasted in LA for being too conservative and attempting long FGs in the washington state loss... reminded me of the bama game... kiffin choked and didn't run plays when he had time... and blamed the refs saying he was afraid they would call a penalty... did anyone think that kick had a chance when tennessee was lining up?

Totally agree Kracker. Not like it was an extra point. Right at 50 yards wasn't it?

Keep it Close Kiffin (Copyright Fed) pulled the same stunt at Florida. Didn't even try to win the game. Was only looking for the cover.
