We got a little of Georgia Championship rasslin here, on Channel 10.
But Continental was PERFECT when some of those promotions merged.
That was as good as live stuff got.
I had about 5th row seats, on the aisle, for the Tag Team Tournament, when they were handing out the belts for the first time.
Mr. Olympia-Jerry Stubbs, and The Dirty White Boy, won the first one.

Really, Continental fizzled too quickly. It was awesome for a few years, while I was in Jr. High, and they had some killer house shows at the Coliseum.
It was just cool, because it held on to Southeastern and added some of those guys from Alabama.
I just liked the small time stuff better than the Big productions from WWF and WCW.

Continental will always be my favorite as well. I still think a promotion like that would work again if someone had a little money and gave it a chance.
I used to could not wait for 1pm Sundays on channel 6.

Championship wrestling from Florida in the early 80s was as good as it got. I was about 9 used to get scared as hell when Kevin Sullivan, maha Singh and purple haze did their demonic promo on the beach at night.

Hint, it was not Frankie "The Thumper" Lancaster.

My dad took me on my first fishing trip to Reelfoot Lake when I was about 6 (1983?). We stayed with a buddy of his and after a day of fishing and supper my dad's buddy turned the TV on and Mid-South Wrestling was on. I'd never seen anything like it - mom wouldn't let me watch. They were hitting each other with chairs, the rig bell, etc. Blood everywhere. I was hooked. Went home and rented every wrestling video from the video store and watched on a loop.
No one had mention G.L.O.W. yet...

This would have been the 70's but on a family vacation down there I saw Ox Baker on TV for the first time. I recall being actually frightened of him.

I saw a G.L.O.W. reunion show recently. One of the big uns needed a walker, but stood up without it claiming to be able to still kick some ass if necessary. I think that the huge Polynesian had passed on and another old lady (Maw?) that was maybe a manager. Possibly the guy that owned the organization too, It was several months ago when I saw it. I'll probably Wikipedia G.L.O.W. latter today.

Did Dick the Bruiser, Cowboy Bob Ellis or Fritz Von Erich rassle in this area? If any of them did it predated my viewing.

Also, I contend, The Stud Stable, was ripped off by The Four Horsemen.
