Some of our fans are like the divorcee who was really hot 15-20 years ago, but got dumped and have suffered through a long line of losers.
Now a decent guy comes along, saying things they like, and they are ready to go all in again.

I am all in no matter who the coach is until they suck. I was out pretty quick with Dooley. I was out after 2005 with Fulmer. Didn't have a chance to see with Kiffin.
Now back in 1899 our first coach was J.A. Pierce. He had a record of 9-4 overall but only 2-3-1 in the conference so we fans had his arse run off after the 1900 season. In 1901 George Kelley was the coach but his record was 3-3-2 so we ran him off after one season. H.F. Fisher came along in 1902 and was 10-7 overall I kinda liked him but he left on his own after the 1903 season. None of the first 8 coaches were better than .500 in the conference. We were saying "When will we ever win the conference, Tony?" Now coach #9, John Bender was hired in 1916. we had no teams for WW1 for 3 years but he came back in 1919 and stayerd another year. He was 18-5-4 overall and 5-3 in the conference. The problem is he could not beat Vandy. We were hollering in 1919 "Tony, when are we ever going to beat Vandy?" (Tony wasn't even around yet but we could see in the future and knew about him). Same for the next coach, M.B. Banks.
The rest is history. The reason you youngsters are so spoiled is cause Neyland was hired in 1926 and completely turned the program around and beat Vandy and just about everyone else's arse. I liked Dickey and thought he would have domintated if he had stayed. Battle was a nice guy of course but went down hill every year.
So there you have it.

I forgot to mention in my post above the following.
When the General came back to coach the Vols after WWII, Small Mike's (the Cattleman's)great grandfather was running around telling everyone he knew that he had a lot of respect for the General but his coaching days are over. He ain't the same and will NEVER win another championship. He said that they need to go after Murray Warmath or Bobby Dodd. Bobby Dodd is a former Tenn. guy at Georgia Tech that is an up and comer that was having great success at Ga. Tech. He beats Georgia and has won some championships. What has he General done lately. I was quoted in the paper that Cattleman #1 didn't have a clue. I said "Mark my words. The General WILL win the national title again. I was correct cause they won it under the General in 1951. When I said that, Gramp's grandfather called me a unrealistic sheep without a clue. I showed him.
