Ellis WAS better. It's not arguable. NBA, yes. At TN, not necessarily.

Tobias Harris over Grunfeld? So, a one year guy who was a second team All SEC pick over a 4 time first team all SEC selection, a 2 time first team All America, and a member of the Olympic team? Now, that's just plain stupid. Thanks for that warning. Saved me some time not opening the link. Grunfeld's Wiki page doesn't credit him with even one first team AA status never mind two. Grunfeld also couldnt have been more average in the pros. I suspect that when Whore and others point and laugh at sheep talk it's Grunfeld who carries the flag. The more I read the more I see he wasnt that good. UT's media guide says he was. Check out his bio here, Page 147: issuu.com/utad/docs/7-honors/0

Grunfeld was TN's leading scorer his freshman year and his junior year (when Bernard was a sophomore).

Wiki probably doesnt list it because it isnt AP/consensus.

UT screwed up the All SEC honors. In 1974 he's listed as both 1st team and 3rd team by AP and Coaches. I wonder if he was third team in 1974 and 1st team freshman All SEC the same year.

Wiki probably doesnt list it because it isnt AP/consensus. So, how many times was Tobias Harris an AP/consensus AA? If you are talking about what they did as college players, that comparison is just plain silly.

Im just thinking hes possibly overrated by Vol fans.

Thats ludicrous. Im just thinking hes possibly overrated by Vol fans. Gotcha. I don't think he was overrated at all, and I watched him play his entire career. He was top 5-7 as an all around player as I have seen play in the SEC in my lifetime, comparable to the talent that was in college basketball at the time. There is nothing that he didn't do at at least an above average level, and a good part of his game was at a superior level comparable to the SEC at the time, and the SEC was really good at the time he and King played. If not for the fact that he played on a team with Bernard King and Mike Jackson he could have scored a lot more points and gotten even more national attention than he did. All three of those guys were SEC "player of the year" talents.

I think Grunfeld had a lot to do with TN 11 Temple 6. Wasn't that his freshman year and Temple knew they were about to get their asses kicked?

Thinking about it from a competitive standpoint--Grunfeld probably was a lot like Rudy Macklin. Macklin didn't do much in the pros either but he was dominant as can be.

I thought that Moss and Jackson played on the JV team their first year.

I thought that Moss and Jackson played on the JV team their first year. They were on the freshman team my freshman year at Hiwassee along with Brykowski. They came to Madisonville and Hiwassee beat them. It was a good game.
