Howard Wood might have been a freshman on Earnie and Bernie's last team (also Ray Mears). He played a couple of years for Devoe's first teams. Ellis came after Wood for sure. Fred Jenkins came around 82 or so. He started when he wasn't hurt. They played a lot better with Jenkins.

Wood was famous for guarding Ralph Sampson in the NCAA's.
I know those guys were the first names I can remember from UT.
Them and SAM ARTERBURN.
I used to like to hear both John and Haywood say ARTERBURN.

But I was 7 years old in 1981. Cut me some slack.

Derrick Horde. Now there's a name. CLASSIC Joe B. Hall bust. He ruined so many talented players it boggles the mind.

I have such good memories from 80-85 UTBB. Those were fun times.

I saw Hord get a quadruple double against D-B one year. He was the best player by far who ever came out of here. No one could do anything with him.
Except Gary Carter.
Also, Fred Jenkins gets my vote as the best ATHLETE in my lifetime of UT basketball. Again, athlete, not necessarily basketball player.

And here are your 1981-82 Vols. LOVED that team. That's when I started getting into it. Terrific team. Deserved better than they got. Virginia and Sampson two damn years in a row. Still blows my mind.
