I can't recall a game since Fulmer left I felt more hopeless about. Im sure thats false but thats just a quick glance through my memory. The parallels to '90 are interesting but miss on one point--Bama had a streak going then as well and had belief whereas we do not. Plus, I like Butch's chances to coach an even more sorry game than Majors did that day. The Majors apologists live on to this day but that afternoon sealed Johnny's fate. That team was absolutely LOADED and didn't sniff the Natty while at the same time never scored a TD against an at best serviceable rival. It was the worst loss of my life even with these two calamities this year, nothing will ever top that.
Speaking of talent, Id be willing to bet this UT team has more "stars" up and down the roster than that one did. Even with many injured and not playing--man for man, UT should match up at least reasonably with Bama. The bad news for Butch is you have to develop that talent and god help you if you can find much of that going on down there.
Lotta ifs. If they make Bama throw and get a pass rush Coker will make mistakes. I guess. Better guess is he shreds our awful secondary to the tune of 350. If Dobbs gets 150 on the ground. Ive heard that one several times this week and I just laugh and laugh. If that kid runs that many times they will wheel him out of there in a body bag.
Special teams TD is a must and a defensive TD wouldnt hurt. Be a good time for a long fluky TD from all world Preston Williams too.
Way too many things have to go right and Bama has new life with Ole Miss fading.
They will stomp our ass into oblivion.
Bama 56

You are right about the streak TNCowboy. Alabama had a 4 game win streak going into that 1990 game. I know our defense hasn't been that great and if there is a blowout coming, it will be because of that. I just think Tennessee is going to come out with fresh legs and play a really good game while Alabama is gassed from their gauntlet. I may be wrong but I think Tennessee gives them all they want.
As far as having no hope going into a game, any game we played against a decent team during the Dooley years were pretty hopeless. You can't tell me you have less hope for Tennessee to win this game than you did for Tennessee to win at Alabama in 2011 when Tyler Bray was hurt and we were starting Matt Sims. That game may have been the most hopeless I ever felt.
