I tried to listen to the new format and it sucks really bad. Radio must be a crazy business.

Heard on 5th quarter last night that Russell Dubya and Rich nailed a new gig:
Same time slot 3pm M-F on 1340 am.
Good for them.

Do you know: Are they archive if an individual cannot listen live? Haven't heard, but I would think they would since The Drive used to archive and 1340 does now.

40 years ago radio ruled. WNOX 990, WKGN 1340, W149, WRJZ 620... and then FM changed everything. Pirkle started WOKI 100.3. Around 1978 WBIR-FM was Country 103 and changed the format to Rock 104. The Tennessee Midnight Rambler was coming out of WQUT (101.5) in Johnson City. Boogie Check on, I think, WOKI. One of the stations used to have a keg party at the pool of a different apartment complex every Saturday in the late 1970s (when the drinking age was 18). U102 started. WIVK woke up and started collecting CMA awards. Good times. Disco effed it all up.

I remember W149 - liked the programming, but probably the weakest signal strength in the history of radio.
