Obviously this is an awful thing. Rude was as fine a man as I ever knew. I didn't know him well of course but he was pure class. One of the good guys.

Well damn. And I forgot that Unknown Hinson was at the Shed last night... months ago when I saw the schedule I figured that I'd meet up with the Rude Dog there.
Section 103 pre-games will never be the same.
Just drove by his old house that blew up about 45 years ago.
RIP Dog.

Dang it boys, this is tough. I think we all loved Rude Dog. He was a top notch guy.
If you got to know him in real life, you felt like he was your best friend, as soon as you met the guy.

http://www.tonybasilio.com:
Monday Live @ Stovers Posted: 7-13-2015, 8:44:05 AM Today's show/blog is done in honor of the caller known as Rude Dog who passed away over the weekend. Rude Dog/Rodney Jones was a tremendous man. Rodney was a frequent caller to Russell Smith recently and also a classic caller to Swamp Rat Dewey Warren's program back in the day. Rude Dog will be sorely missed. My heartfelt condolences are extended to Rodney's family and friends.
What follows is a tribute written by all around great man Rick Isenberg
'Rodney Jones, better known as "Rudedog" to the Basilio radio family and to his multitude of friends, suffered a massive heart attack and passed away Saturday afternoon. He will be greatly missed by all who had the honor and privilege to have known him.
I met Rodney through one of the sports boards close to fifteen years ago and immediately had a friend for life. That wasn't unusual at all, as I've known few people who worked as diligently at exhibiting Christian friendship and generosity as he did. He cared about others and it showed.
Rudedog loved the Lord, his wife, his family and friends, the Vols, blues guitar and dogs. He was always ready for a good laugh or to help with a good cause. I know many readers of this blog made road trips or attended games and concerts with him and without exception they could testify to the same good memories of their comical times together that I can. Not many of us will see his equal again.
Rest in peace, my friend.
Rick'

Just now saw this. That's awful. Hung out with him and OSVF at a few basketball games, but haven't talked to him in person in some time.

Rodney was one fine human being. Loved his Vols like no other. When I was having my health problems 2 years ago, he called several times to check on me. I was totally shocked when Wolfgang called me with the news. I am so happy I was able to make it to M-ville for his service to honor him and his life. I shall miss him this fall on football Saturdays. RIP Dog........................ PS: It was good to see some old friends at his service. Look forward to seeing more of you this fall.
