Wish him the best, but...
Could this qualify as a bone from Haslam you were pitching for in another thread?

Worley isn't signing a contract with the Browns. He's just been invited to free agent camp, kind of like a preferred walk on in college.

Those Browns contracts have a rebate program on them though, right?

This is from 2013, but the numbers probably haven't changed much: www.baltimorebeatdown.com/2013/7/23/4550368/training-camp-compensationRookies were paid a $925 stipend during training camp during that year. Since he is not signing a contract, that's it. He doesn't get paid to be there, just the stipend.

If he gets one of about 10 spots on the practice squad he'll earn about $6,500/week for up to 17 weeks.

If he gets one of about 10 spots on the practice squad he'll earn about $6,500/week for up to 17 weeks. True, but he won't get that until the final cuts are made and only after he is offered a contract. For mini-camp and camp, he gets the stipend - period - and he has to pay his expenses out of that stipend. That's what a stipend is for. He isn't signing a contract, and in essence is a walk on at this point.

Really, Thunder - it's not rocket surgery. He has no contract at this point and unless he bedazzles in mini-camp and the Browns sign him to a free agent contract, he won't have a contract going in to pre-season camp in July, and that is IF he is invited back for that.
