TN definitely has a point guard. Unfortunately they lost a really good wing to get him. Hubbs, Punter, Baulkman, or Mostella need to replace that missing wing. The way the game's played these days, it probably wouldn't bother me too much if you just put your five most skilled players on the court, no matter their description.

I get what you are saying but a ball handler is what I consider the most essential part of college basketball now.

I think maybe we do agree. I would most likely consider your best ball handler to be one of your most skilled players.

A dedicated ball handler isn't as essential in CDT's current offense. Only Owens and Charmichael aren't capable of bringing the ball up. Even Reese will dribble across half court.
I think that Donnie is a step ahead of the opposition. Since it's been common knowledge that TN does not have a point guard CDT expects pressure. They seem to be ready for it and the offense actually works better when opposing defenders don't drop back. This entire team is prepared to attack the press and get a lot of good looks against it. They might have a handful of additional turnovers, but they offset those with some easy baskets.
Also, since TN doesn't have the prototypical point guard, on defense the opponent isn't able to get into a situation with a matchup advantage. They are so interchangable in the hybrid matchup zone thing, the just swap out who they are defending on the perimeter.
CDT probably has a different twist to the Donnie Zone if he does have a true point guard, but he really diesn't seem to be missing one right now.

At least it doesn't look like we are going to be beaten on a last second shot this time.
A&M owns us in basketball.

The REAL CB45 stopped by where I sat to say hello.
No answer for their inside game. Their big guys were very good ball handlers. They also grabbed a bunch of rebounds from behind and over the top of our guys without fouling. We needed Len Kosmalski today.

Awful shooting and terrible rebounding. I fear teams may be getting the book on UT. After the joy we've had the last few weeks, I hope this isn't the beginning of a dry spell. Texas A&M had a good game plan against UT.
