Really, it is just too easy to sit back and parrot, what some others keep saying.
"We need a new line".
Bull chit.
We had a line full of NFL guys last year and this offense sucked.
We could get the all time greatest line, and run this ignorant offense and still be horrible.
Blaming it on the O-Line coach, and Zone Blocking, is getting old too.

WE have some crumby running backs, and WRs who cannot get open.
Worley gets sacked because teams know we have no shot at doing anything except maybe throwing a pass.
WE CANNOT RUN.
I am just saying that people see we cannot run and the first thing they say is "The line sucks".

I think that there is a disconnect between the offensive scheme they know and team chemistry and harmony. These teams have been more together than any I've ever seen. They've been drinking the Kool-that CBJ serves up. However, Ferguson might have had the best skills to run the offense. Worley is the best teammate though. Giving the keys to Ferguson could have been disruptive to chemistry... he's the most Bray-like of the four. But Worley had the most experience and was beyond compare with Ferguson as far as being the team leader. Peterman is Worley light with better physical skills, far worse mentally. Dobbs should have been the solution, but maybe no leadership skills and his football smarts could be a total disconnect to his book smarts. He might be thinking too much and not have the instincts to be a good QB.
The QB commitments they have in hand now though blow up this theory. Unless the "athlete" recruit takes the job, the next QB will again be a Worley/Peterman type. Maybe that means they will change the scheme in 2015. Doesn't make a lick of sense to recruit pro-style QBs for a read/option scheme. But Butch is being paid millions to make these decisions... who sm I to question his methods?

I do know that every week there are these all world DLs that seem to be in Worley's face before you get to "two Mississippi". It's like there is a Clowney on the other side of the ball EVERY week.
The two best receivers NOW are hurt. Malone is a child and North is pretty raw too.
The running backs haven't done much to help. Seems like, other than Hurd every so often, the best that they can get is five yards on a run. Seems like when the entire defense is in pass defense and all out blitzing, they'd find some lanes and be able to pop off 8, 10, 15, 20 yards pretty regularly.

Hurd is truly Eddie George made over. Its cliche but its true. There have been a few times where he had some daylight--very few granted--that I think a Jamal Lewis or even a Travis Stephens gets 60 yards and a TD whereas Hurd gets 20. I hope he gets a lot better but Im not sure he is a program difference maker.
Still, with these QB's its hard telling. Mag's post says it all. We are so one dimensional its a joke.
Jennings or Dormandy one basically have to be a reasonable fascimile of Manziel and they gotta be able to do it Game 1 by 2016 or this experiment will end for all intents and purposes.

I'd rather have the four and five stars in the offensive line than in the backfield. This team starts a redshirt walk-on with a torn ACL or MDL at tackle.

Well next year Lyle can start two boys from Coalfield on the offensive line and all will be good.
One is already on the roster and the other is coming next year.
But seriously, we could sign 5, 5star linemen this year, and they will be freshmen next year. They will get eaten alive.
I just think it is too easy to think that is our only problem, in that we can't run or pass protect.
Bottom line, is we just are not good.

10 star offensive linemen would still be eaten alive as true freshmen unless they line up next to another with a lot of experience and smarts.
I have no idea how good or bad the QB, WOs, and RBs are as long as this line performs as it does.

It is going to take another 2-3 years to get the line everybody thinks we need to win big. Lyle is already talking about years 4 or 5 and that just burns me up even more. |

Winning near 70% in year 4 and 5 works for me. Better win no less than 7 next year. Better rush for at least 750 yards in the next five games too.
