And please tell me why he will? Not just blind faith, but what in the world have you seen from him, that tells you he is going to turn it around here?

No matter what system a coach runs, to me it comes down to having more playmakers than the other guy. Fulmer spent ten years winning because his players came through when they needed to. Just think of how many close wins and near-miracles happened over that decade. When for whatever reason his teams lost that little edge, we sent him off sulking with a paltry $6M to ease his pain.
When/if Butch can get enough of those kind of difference makers, UT will be back in the hunt & mix. At the moment I'd say I have more hope than I have absolute confidence that it's gonna happen.

Wolf is right. Problem is today 6 teams have the talent Fulmer had. Back them he contended with 2--FL and GA.
Lyle is never going to have the personnel advantage that Fulmer had about every week. He CAN however recruit to a parity level with FL, Bama, LSU, GA, Auburn, A&M.
Then he has to out coach them.
With all due respect he WONT be able to do that.

I don't care if the coaching doesn't generate an on-field advantage in tactics as long as they keep getting the recruits and the team plays with high discipline and maintains high(er) character off the field. That will take care of 90% of what is needed.
Winning 70% is all they need to do. Fulmer was the #2 program out of 12 for more than a decade and the Jethros howled. I'll take #4 out of 14 and be as pleased as can be. By the time this program is back in the top ten in the country, the football playoffs will be at least 8 and maybe 16. Fulmer woulx have been in the playoffs about every other year.

Another good Jethro is Jarvis partner Dustin white. That guy is next level.
Also, gray isn't as hardcore on twitter as he used to be on SPS

Gray went soft. Some of his Fulmer takedowns were masterpieces. Id go so far as to say his posts are what kept me coming back to SPS initially.

I am far from sure that Butch will get it done, he has shown many flaws in his game management during his first year and half. He has recruited like a mother and got us in with guys we haven't had a chance at in a long time. There is no denying this is a very, very young team playing in a conference that is an NFL junior league.
I think his handling of the QB position and his assistants during the off season and into next season will decide his success next year.
Can this new talent and his coaching get to the 9-10 win level every year? That is all I expect. Seems how Georgia does it. Win 9 or so every year, hope the schedule falls your way every few years and have a chance to win 11. Let the west beat up on each other, get to the top of the east and is puts you in great shape.

That's my thing. Really unacceptable to not be first or second in the East pretty much right away at this point in time. If you think Saban, Meyer, Malzahn, even Spurrier or Richt would have this exact team clawing for dear life to get to 6 wins for the second year in a row then I don't know what to tell you.

I agree with this. Gotta have the players and Butch seems to know how to get them. Why do you think Butch can't out coach the others TnCowmonkeetittiebiter? He did out coach the old ball coach last year. Getting great players and good depth can help coaching alot as Wolfie pointed out about Fulmer.
