I saw about five of them huddling right in front of the Bama bench. At least two were wearing headsets. It didn't occur to me that they weren't just discussing something among themselves. I didn't see the foul, maybe they were discussing if an ejection was required. Was there not a TV time out on that particular change of possession?

I watched some of the first part of the game to check out the calls that were called into question. Interesting that Alabama rushed a guy onto the field on their first place and caused all kinds of confusion for the UT defense. But on the personal foul call, it was obvious the officials were listening to someone in their headsets. TV never showed the play itself. But they stayed focused on the officials the entire time they were in their huddle. The referee does most of the talking, but there was a lot of them standing there not saying a word. You could see the ref take on his headset as those he couldn't hear something. He would mumble some words, then stand there and not say anything for a number of seconds. It was obvious they were listening to someone.

I never could hear a clear answer from Rocky Goode on the first play substitution. I'm still unclear if the officials blew it, if Butch is bitching about nothing, or if Kiffin was exploiting a gray area. If the third, I anticipate a Kiffin rule will be added in the off season.

Not sure about that rule. I think it's the third. If you look at that play, the player that came in late threw the key block that got Cooper free.

Part of the written rule is something about attempting to deceive the opponent with substitutions being illegal. He did this about three or four times, Kiffin was obviously doing that.

The starting WR (22 Christian Jones) pulled a hammy in warmups. Thus the last arrival on the first play. You guys are giving to much/too little credit to a nonissue.

It wasn't the first play. The previous play was a punt and those 11 were substituted for.
Not that big a deal if it happened once, but Kiffin pulled that shit several times. He can't help being a dick.

I guess the only first play is the Kickoff. I highly doubt it ever happened again (you say several more times) if it's that confusing, he's a dumbass for not doin it everytime

Butch was complaining repeatedly about the refs not holding up the snap after Alabama's late substitutions.
The one play score was a better result for TN than a 15 play drive that resulted in a TD. TN actually dominated Time of Possession in the first half.
Point is, the SEC refs kind of suck.
