That's what you get when you play on your heels, not on your toes.
It's a puzzle that this team is either quite good or just awful, with very little in between.

They're just bad. If you don't have much height on the court then you must be able to hit outside shots or drive and pick up fouls. They aren't very tall inside and they don't have an outside threat. Didn't really expect McMater to be so dearly missed. If your entire lineup is 6'3", 6'5", 6'7" then you have push the ball on offense and turn up the pressure on defense. Intead these guys stand around on offense and lose their man on defense... not capable of fighting through a screen... not able to edge out if your man is setting the screen. On the plus side it looked like McRae made an effort a few times to make entry passes to Stokes and Maymon. They managed to get several of the NCSU defenders in early foul trouble, but couldn't keep it up later. 12 blocked shots... a new record for opponents. McRae, Baron, and Hubbs couldn't buy a basket. At one point they were 2 for 19 from outside the arc. I no longer blame Cuonzo. They just don't have basketball players. right now I think McRae is just trying to get into the NBA.

I do like CCM's recruits, but Moore, the three freshman, and the signees for next year are too late to save CCM's bacon. I hope that they stay after CCM has joined the ranks of fired multi-millionaire UT coaches.
Who you gonna get? I like Tim Floyd. I don't give two shits that he was maybe complicit in the OJ Mayo thing.

Yes they shot like 3 footed turtles from outside, but fact remains that they were put into those desperation type shots by inept coaching and bull-headed leadership. Never seen such malfeasance on the basketball floor. Down 17 at half w/ Maymon and Stokes simultaneously in play. Yeah, that's working good - let's go with that for 2nd half. And did we ever press defensively at any point in time??

It is a tournament sport. The NCAA tournament is a guard oriented. I thought that Barton was going to make a difference. I think that Hubbs might still come around. If McRae can keep on pounding the ball inside, that will take the pressure off of him and he could flourish on offense. There were times tonight when he was going 1 on four and even one on five.
They still have a prayer of turning it around if some chemistry develops between Thompson and McRae. Maybe Richardson needs to play a post and Maymon and Stokes split time. I don't think that Richardson will have enough size though against most major conference teams to post up low.
I don't get how they can be so bad at guarding the perimeter and at the same time not be able to keep the opponent off of the offensive glass.

Hell fire... hire Forbes and Tony Jones. Make them co-coaches... except don't have TJ script the substitution pattern.

Only thing is, we cant play in transition either. I think the only fast break advantage we converted tonight was the one Thompson finished. Our fast breaks are special needs level.

I would still like to see Greg Marshall end up here. His teams have always looked to be well coached.
